Friday Night Lights: Hard to Say Goodbye

Tonight's Friday Night Lights was not exactly what I expected. I didn't hate it, it just caught me off guard. There are so many characters, it's impossible to show all of them each week, I know this, but sometimes I forget. It was strange not to see the Taylors a lot since they're are staple of the show. I was a little disappointed not to see Saracen and Julie after their big night last week. There was just a brief glimpse of Tyra.

This episode was pretty much setting up what we all knew was coming...Jason Street's departure. From the very beginning the actors knew their time on the show would be short, and I'm glad they're taking the time to wrap up some of their storylines. I like that this show recognizes that in real life, people don't stay in one place forever--they leave and move on to new things.

Although next week's episode probably means another Saracen/Julie-less ep, that's OK. I always liked #6 and I'm sure I'll shed a tear when he says gooodbye to Riggins. Hell, my heart skipped a beat when he and Lyla had their moment at the end.

A few other thoughts:

Poor Landry, but Mrs. Taylor is right. He's just beginning. In the end the nice guy does come out ahead.

I actually felt bad for Buddy tonight. How is that possible? It's nice that his baby girl is still on his side.

I really don't get the McCoys. I didn't really hate JD too much tonight. He might be growing on me.

The Taylor tag team was in full effect tonight--banning together to keep JeMarcus on the team. They are a force to be reckoned with.

Let's hope Riggins gets into college. With Street's help he should. I could definitely see him as an agent.

ABDC: Boys Can Dance!

Wow! I just watched Quest Crew's routine on America's Best Dance Crew, and all I have to say is, "Wow." Wow. Wow. Wow. Even I wanted to stand up and give them a standing ovation. I'm actually voting for them right now. Over and over and over. They hit everything so perfectly. If you're into hip-hop dancing, then you've got to see their routine. They absolutely killed that challenge.

I love Beat Freaks also, but I have to say, the boys beat them tonight. Over the course of this whole thing, both crews have performed consistently well. For each one, I think there was only one routine I wasn't wowed by, but even at their supposed worst, they were awesome.

This is going to be close. I need to go back to voting now.

ER: Funny Little Feeling

I just finished watching ER, and I am so excited about the final episodes. Seeing all those familiar faces flash across the screen makes me squee like a fangirl. George Clooney appearing March 12--yay! Dr. Benton busting through the doors saying, "Anyone need a surgeon?" Yay! Dr. Lewis and Nurse Hathaway. Yay, yay, yay!

I was mistaken last week when I thought Carter had cancer. Apparently he was on a dialysis machine and needs a kidney transplant. I obviously can't tell the difference between dialysis and chemo. Good thing I'm not in the medical field.

And what was going on with Simon tonight? He really needs to open up and get his issues out in the open. Neela had every right to be pissed at him. All he ever does is distract her with sex. If he wants to be in a relationship with her, he has to get his act together. And what are they doing with Ray? Is he actually going to make an appearance? This weird love triangle involves an invisible third party. It's just weird. Actually it's more like a love rectangle if you count Dubenko.

Seeing Banfield's husband pop that guy in the face at the adoption meeting was hilarious. I would've done the same thing. That couple was just obnoxious. For people who really wanted children, they really didn't act like it. I get the frustration, but is it really necessary in that kind of environment. Save it for your home.

Can't wait for the new eps. It's ridiculous how excited I am. Squeeeeeeeeeee!

Friday Night Lights: They Score!

I can honestly say that this is one of my favorite shows on TV right now. Every week I tune in and I'm never disappointed. It's a show about life and emotions and it's the little details that really make it great. The chemistry among the cast members is another reason. I love human interest stories and this is a collection of those stories. It doesn't have the glitz and glamour of the other shows, but I think its subtle storytelling is what makes it worth keeping around. Fingers crossed that they get a fourth season.

The Naked Mile. Oh stupid freshmen. Coach Taylor's reaction is priceless!

This was just heartbreaking. Jason Street has the worst story, but I love that he's doing everything in his power to make the most of what he's got. What I love most is that his son has given him a reason to keep pushing forward and it broke my heart to see him say goodbye to him. She totally could have stuck around and tried to make it work. But I see Jason leaving the show and moving East to be with his boy.

OK, this is just a recipe for disaster. When they introduced the idea of this in the previous episode, I knew it was a bad idea all around. Flipping houses in this economy? With these goofballs? Oh boy. That's a big gamble to put all your hopes and dream on. May the force be with you.

From one bad idea to another. Really, Landry? You're still pursuing this band thing? The first time I saw his band, I thought, WTF? Same thing now. I give you props for keeping up the dream, man.

I don't know about this cowboy. Something about him I don't trust, and obviously Tyra thinks the same thing. I feel like he's only going to let her down. Focus on school and getting out of Dillon, Tyra. You've got a chance to make more out of your life.

And this is your future if you don't get out of Dillon. The fact that you are repulsed by this dress is sign that you don't belong in that town. I can't believe they think this dress is classy. It's got butterfly wings and a big bow on her butt! And there's butt cleavage! The sad thing is, that there really are people out there who think this dress a good idea. Sigh.

This was one of my favorite scenes. I love how Coach and Julie rounded the corner only to see Matt and his Grandma. The look in his Grandma's eyes was great. You could see that the Coach was in big trouble. I love how she reduced big, bad Coach Taylor to a child being scolded. The only thing Matt and Julie could do was walk away.

The shot right after this was of their shoes. It's those little details that I love. You feel the friendship, but you can also sense that there's something more there that they're not quite ready to acknowledge. I like the way they've handled the Julie/Saracen relationship this season. They capture the innocence of it in such a great way. You can feel the butterflies, the fear, the attraction...every feeling that comes with that first love. And the chemistry between these two actors--perfection.

Awww...love how Coach can get Grandma Saracen to give him a hug. Too bad he can't make her grandson QB1 again. Just not gonna happen with the all-star freshman on the team.

Only reason I added this image is because I love that smile. I have such a crush on Saracen.

Didn't I say this was a bad idea? Holes in the wall? A $1,700 toilet?! Seriously? Oh boys, you really need some help. Badly.

Saracen demoted and hating every minute of it. On one hand he really needs to suck it up and be a team player. On the other, he did everything he was told and still got the short end of the stick. This really is just a sad, lonely shot.

JD McCoy's dad really needs to calm down. He's making Dan Scott on OTH look like a saint. Let him bond with his team and have some fun. He's a kid, not a machine. Can't wait until Coach gives him the smackdown. You can see it in Coach's face that he won't be able to keep his mouth shut for long.

I'm glad Lyla and Riggins finally got it together. I love the interaction between these two in this scene. She's beautiful and he's hot, yet they have that teen love vibe going on between them. Instead of groping each other they're engaging in this cute, subtle foreplay. I love it.

You tell him Tyra! It sucks that her love life is always crap, but I think that's what she needs to help her get out of this town. I think a great guy will only keep her from going out into the world. Like I said, something about this cowboy I don't trust. Maybe it's the pill popping.

OK, the additon of the girl makes this band much better. Move aside Landry, I think you've got a new lead singer. And she's right, you really need to stop writing songs about Tyra. It's done. Move on.

I love how Coach is still a dad to his ex-players. I'm sure he still feels some guilt about Jason, but I also feel as though there's some genuine love there also. Now that Smash is off to bigger and better things, it's time to focus on Street.

He may be telling the truth, but he's still hiding something Tyra. Watch your back.

JD McCoy, the new star of YouTube. I'm sure he got this sloshed after one drink. What would your Daddy say, boy? Oh yes, he's going to make you apologize to the Coach for your bad behavior. This kid's story is going to get interesting. Maybe there's still hope for this character. Part of me thinks he's going to end up being gay, which would definitely be a great new storyline.

These two have some off-the-charts chemistry. I love how he just snuck up on her and that he was late because he was helping Street paint. Even though they argue a lot, there's so much love.

And they score! It took us a while to get here, but I'm glad they took it slow. Although, I don't think Coach is going to be too happy with Saracen when he finds out. And you know he's going to find out. Can't wait to see that scene. It's going to be awesome!

Again, it's the small things, the glances, the touches, the shots others think are so insignificant but are so important to creating the mood and conveying the feelings in the scene. When you watch this whole scene play out, it really special and very touching. You can feel the emotions and that's the great thing about this show. Yes, there are compelling stories about this little town in Texas about everyday people, but it's these moments that make the show special. Life is made up of these moments. They are the ones we hang on to and that stay with us for a long time.

What can I say? I just love this show. Powers that be, please give it another season. Pretty please?

Ugly Betty: Fashion Week Fun

I have to say, I actually enjoyed this ep. I can't really figure out why. Is it because they finally gave her a potential love interest who seems to fit her and challenge her? Is it because it was Fashion Week and something interesting always happens? Or is it because it had a good moral that I identified with? I don't know, I just know I liked it.

I love Betty's energy and her go get 'em attitude, but she's a little bit of a kiss ass. Tone it down a bit. I'm wondering when she's going to get those braces off. Look at that grin!

Fashion girl meet sports guy. He's your partner for the entire year. Love it! The one thing that annoyed me about Betty during this whole ep was how she quickly dismissed sports guy and his magazine. She really is in no position to judge since she is fashion girl. There are a lot of stories to be told in sports. There's a story in everything if you look really hard. She says she wants to write about things that matter. Well, I think people matter--all people--and they have some really cool stories. I'm glad she was able to figure that out. Otherwise, I would have had to hit her over the head if I saw her on the street. And I have seen them filming near my building, so it could very well happen.

I always like it when Betty and Daniel have these heart-to-heart moments. It cracked me up when he mentioned that she'd need a new wardrobe if she became a fashion editor. Yeah, I agree. When you're in fashion, you need to look the part.

BTW...how ridiculous was the end of that fashion show? I lost it when Willy held up that baby among the dark angels. Mark was too funny with all those cues. It was all so lame, but I guess they needed something to up the cheese factor.

I'm really interested to find out what's going on with Molly. If she's pregnant with the ex's baby, that's really going to throw a kink into their relationship. Maybe it's something else. I hope we actually find out and it's not dragged out like Izzy's illness on Grey's.

ER: Welcome Back, Carter!

I'll always have a special place in my heart for ER. I've watched it since the beginning, and I have to admit, I'm a little sad that it's ending. I know it's time, but it's still hard. What I have enjoyed seeing this season is all the old stars coming back. I heard that even George caved and is going to make a brief appearance. I can't wait!

I don't know what it is about these two, but I kind of love them. I always wanted her with Ray, but I guess they have no intention of ever bringing him back. Oh well, Simon works, too. Just one question--why does ER have a Valentine's Day episode a week after Valentine's Day?

Yeah, pulling that bar out of your stomach probably wasn't a smart thing to do. There's a reason those people around you are doctors and you're not. You might want to listen to them.

And of course, we need a reminder of Ray. Oh Neela, it must suck to be you. Yeah, not really. Two hot guys trying to get your affections? Doesn't sound like such a bad deal to me.

And he's back! Dr. Carter is back and County. But why so serious, man? Something tells me that this return is not good. I don't care, though, Carter's back! Yay!

Uhhhh, Archie, do you really think it's wise to stick that tube in the man's brain? Eh, who cares? It's ER, the docs can do anything.

Can you feel the man love? The three in the background looking like they're trying really hard not to laugh. Jerry drinking the mushroom juice and hitting on Carter had me laughing really hard. But hey, can you blame the guy?

Uhhhh...that could be a problem. How the hell do they mix up the blood types? This patient just has the worst luck. I hope they find her a heart soon.

What happened to you Steve? Why are you such an ass? Miranda would not approve. You could tottally tell he had a hand in beating the crap out of the guy. Don't think Archie and his lady love are going to survive this one.

Did you get the message loud and clear Dr. Banfield? You don't have to give birth to a child to love them unconditionally. I love that this little girl is totally schooling you. Listen to her. She's a wise little girl.

Awwwww...I miss seeing that goofy grin. Carter and Neela are together again. Now that would have been a great pairing if he hadn't left.

Call me. LOL! Oh Jerry. For your sake I hope that mushroom juice wears off fast. I don't think your heart could handle the rejection.

And this is why he's back. :( Haven't I cried enough this season?! If Carter dies before it's all over I'm going to lose it. It'll be interesting to see what the whole story is, cuz you know there is one.

Overall, a typical ER ep. Only a few more to go. I plan on enjoying them.

30 Rock: I Am So Liz Lemon

LOL! Frat-house Wall Street guys as interns--because they don't know how to do anything. Ahhh...does someone not like frat boys?

Sorry, I smell like frosting. I just love to bake. Seriously? I want to bake with you.

I want to go to there. Yes, I do, too. This is totally me. Cute guy opens door and smells like frosting? I'd be incoherent also.

You can do whatever you want to me. Oh Tracy Jordan. You're so funny when you've been roofied.

Seriously? A telanovela actor that looks like Alec Baldwin? And why is he about to blow up a little boy? Well, I guess these soaps can get a little ridiculous.

Really? You're going to take tips from a telanovela and fake losing a dog you don't have? Genius! I'll make a mental note of that one.

Wearing the shirt of the charity he works for? Brilliant! It's nice to see you're willing to do what it takes to get the guy, no matter how insane. You're my idol.

I love the look of fear on Tracy's face. It's funny how he's all gangsta, but he can't even hand with a bunch of frat boys. Awesome.

Conspiring to trick the abuela. Cheers evil ones!

Now you're in for it. Freaky handyman has found your fake dog. Whatcha gonna do? Yes, say thanks and let the dog in--perfect. Everything's going to plan. Your fake party is going to work, yes it will.

The only thing that could foil the plan is the roofies you let him take and the opened mail he discovers. Nice attempt at making him think he's hallucinating. But it ain't working. He's on to you. Run!

Mr. Smartypants goes through the effort of going through your mail and letting you know that he would have actually liked you if you hadn't lied. Who knew? Lucky for you, thanks to your crazy network, he's willing to give you another shot. Yay for Liz Lemon!

I just loved this shot because she has a strawberry Pop Tart in her mouth as she checks out the cute guy. I l-o-v-e the strawberry ones! A girl after my own heart.

Yes, this ep had me laughing mainly because of Liz's crazy antics. Totally reminded me of things I probably would do or have done. It ain't easy being an intelligent insecure girl these days. I actually enjoyed Salma Hayek's guest appearance. I think she makes a good match for Jack. I wonder how they're going to break up. You know it's coming. Well, whatever it is, it should be funny.

One last time...Liz Lemon is my hero!
