After watching the season finale, I'm 100% convinced it needs to be saved. We have to see Chuck become SuperChuck! I mean, come on, he knows Kung Fu now--and did you see Casey's face? Priceless!
Last season it was in danger of not being picked up, but NBC decided to give it another chance. Now, the future doesn't look so bright for our wannabe spy. I admit, there was a time when I was unsure whether or not this show was good enough to last. But after watching this past season, I know there are a lot more stories to tell. Here are my top 5 reasons for loving this show:1) It's funny: Plain and simple--this show makes me laugh, and I love anything that makes me laugh. Yes, the concept is completely outlandish, but that's exactly what makes people want to watch it. For an hour on a Monday night we're transported to this world where a geeky IT guy saves the world with the help of only two secret agents. And he seems to get it done before his next shift at the Buy More, and sometimes, even during his shift.2) Great characters: Every character on this show is entertaining. Even when the scenes aren't focused on Chuck, Casey or Sarah, we still find the show entertaining because they give the minor characters storylines that often parallel the main the one. Morgan's issues alone are enough to fill up a whole season: his battles with Emmett, Big Mike dating his mom, his quest to be a Benihana chef, the ups and downs with his girlfriend Anna, and keeping the Buy More misfits in line. And really, how can you not laugh at the stupid situations Lester and Jeff get themselves into? Watching them sing the Mr. Roboto song at Ellie and Awesome's wedding was hilarious! Whether they're being annoying or heroic, each one of these characters is distinct, memorable and so easy to love in some capacity.
3) Awesome guest stars: Ummm, hello, Scott Bakula?! Quantum Leap was such a great show! He was the perfect actor to join the cast as Chuck and Ellie's dad. The casting director could not have gotten it any better. Chevy Chase as the evil Bill Gates-like character was a great choice, too. If they get a third season, I can't wait to see who they add to the mix.
4) Sarah & Chuck: I love a good love story, which is why I love these two. She's so great at playing it cool and he's great at being the lovesick puppy. Even though he had great chemistry with other love interests in the form of Jordana Brewster and Rachel Bilson, it always came back to Sarah and Chuck. Now that he's been programmed with awesome fighting and spy skills, it'll be interesting to see how Sarah reacts to it. We need to see these two finally get their happily ever after.
5) Zachary Levi: Of course, with me, it always comes down to the guy. I absolutely adore this guy and his adorkable qualities. Whether he's sporting the Nerd Herd uniform or a tailored suit, he's definitely a hottie in that dorky sort of way. Translation: My kind of guy. Since NBC has already canceled the show of one of my other pieces of eye candy (Christian Slater-and it sucks that they didn't even give that show a chance), they have to at least give me this one.
The support for this show has been incredible. From Twittering to buying footlong sandwiches at Subway, the fans have really rallied to bring Chuck back. I guess we'll find out if all their hard work paid off. I read that NBC may announce its renewal tomorrow at the upfronts. I will definitely keep my fingers crossed!
The only shows on my schedule yesterday were HIMYM, Chuck and Heroes. For the lord-knows-how-long week in a row, I skipped out on Heroes. They're still on my Tivo, but I probably won't watch them until the season's over. It's a shame, really. I loved it so much the first season. I even have a T-shirt that says, "Save the cheerleader, save the world." Sadly, the show has tanked since that first season. Too many characters, too many storylines all over the place, too many loose ends. They even made my favorite character, Hiro, annoying. So sad. But...I will watch the eps I have because if anything, I am a loyal viewer. I stay with shows until the very end.Anyway, here's what I thought of the two shows I did manage to watch yesterday:Chuck: This is one of those goofy shows you just have to love. This week we found Chuck competing with a superspy for Sarah's affections. Poor guy just looked like a big doofus the whole time. I love watching this show, but I wonder how much longer it can keep up the main storyline. Eventually they have to figure out how to get the Intersect out of Chuck's brain. Once that's done, then what? Every week the poor guy's life is always in danger, but it's just not feasible to keep this up for another season. The writers better figure out a new spin for this show or people might lose interest. Of course I won't because I need to find out what happens to Chuck and Sarah.
Although, I did find the Tron poster reveal interesting. Who knew Chuck had his own investigation going on behind that thing?HIMYM: Not one of the best, but still entertaining. It was nice to see Laura Prepon again. I'm still pissed October Road didn't get picked up. Can't wait till the season two DVD comes out with the recently taped finale. Anyway, back to the show at hand. Marshall forgetting his pants wasn't really that funny. Watching Barney laugh his ass off was. When they told the story, I sort of felt like Robin. That was funny? I agree, the chimp with the two tuxedos was funnier. For some reason, I wasn't really interested in the Ted/Karen story, but we'll see how this pans out. Will he find a yellow umbrella at her place? Is she the mother of her children?
In HIMYM real-life news, I think it's cute that Aly H. and Cobie S. are both pregnant. Their little babies can have playdates on set!Sunday Bonus: Desperate Housewives was kind of blah, but my favorite scene was the dinner at Bree's. Tom and Lynette fighting over the same job was funny. At first I thought she was only doing it to light a fire under him, but then we saw that she really was after it.
Brothers & Sisters was full of crazy drama. Tommy was such an ass, Holly just needs to give up revenge on the Walkers, and Rebecca better watch it or she might be getting involved with another Walker boy. You can totally tell Ryan is staying just for her. I see him and Justin and fists flying. Should be good.Tonight was a slow night. Reaper was the only show on my list for tonight, but I chose to watch Ocean's 11 instead. I've had a hard time sticking with Reaper, so I don't know if I'll ever get around to watching the ep. I think I may try to watch Trust Me after Ocean's. I wanna like that show because I loved Eric McCormack on Will & Grace and Thomas Cavanaugh on Ed, but I never can seem to remember when it's on. Eh, we'll see if I can hang with this show.
